James Jones (MA), Associate Director, has led the Advising and Academic Services team at INTO Mason since its inception in 2014. In this role, he supervises academic advisors and manages student records across programs.

James holds a BBA in Management Information Systems and a BA in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin.  He completed an MA in Anthropology at the University of Chicago. James studied the Hindi language for six years and had two extended stays in Udaipur, Rajasthan with the American Institute of Indian Studies.

Prior work experience includes academic advising in both the Honors College and General Advising Center at the University of Texas at Arlington, where James also coordinated a provisional admission program and taught a first-year undergraduate course on academic self-management. He also advised students in the Interdisciplinary Studies program and taught a proposal writing course at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. James was Assistant Director at George Mason’s Center for International Student Access, serving international students from arrival and orientation to class registration and programming activities. He also coordinated UNIV 100, the first-year transition course at the Center.

At INTO Mason, James currently teaches INYO 501 and INYO 502, both graduate courses that facilitate the transition of international students from pathway programs to degree studies at George Mason University.
